No, not Ray, but his "separated-at-birth twin" Farid Salloum, CFO (Chief Falafel Owner) of Baba's Meterranean Kitchen on Fort Avenue in South Baltimore (between Federal Hill and Locust Point). What a cool little place to eat great Mediterranean food! It's colorful and cozy inside with an authentic tin ceiling adorned with Moroccan inspired hanging lamps and a meticulously hand drawn chalkboard menu. Upon entering the busy restaurant I thought we'd walked into the filming of a Seinfeld episode.....
Add Comment An all time favorite date of ours is to see a movie at the artsy, yet sophisticated, Charles Theater paired with dinner and drinks at the adjoining restaurant, Tapas Teatro (inviting, hip and delicious). Both are located one block north of Penn Station on North Charles Street. On warm nights you can sit outside to eat and watch interesting people come and go -- once I saw a cop let a pretty lady test drive his Segway up and down the street! Incidentally, Tapas Teatro is a sister restaurant to The Helmand. Both are owned by the brother of Hamid Karzai (president of Afghanistan). Small world, huh? ![]() Thank God the heat wave finally ended! Last week we took a drive to Marshy Point Nature Center in Middle River to feel the breeze coming off the peaceful creeks. It's such a cool place (no pun intended, I swear) and it's FREE. It's owned by Baltimore County Parks and Rec. Upon entering the visitor's center we were greeted by a huge black bear and corralled by the pet duck. After a quick pit stop to the clean restroom (yeah!) we explored the center's exhibits of indigenous turtles, cat fish, quails, frogs and yes, Skinks! The class room had a further menagerie of dead and ........
